Is your child due to start school in September 2025?
We have organised special days specifically for families of 2025 Reception starters, so you and your child can experience all that our wonderful school has to offer.
The Open Days are an opportunity to visit the whole school while it is in action. You will be guided around the school by our Year 6 pupils, providing a great opportunity to ask questions, which can be answered by the most important people at our school, our pupils! Of course, our knowledgeable staff will also be there to welcome and guide you as a part of the St John the Baptist family.

Set in vast, green grounds, St John the Baptist gives pupils the best possible start to their educational journey. Our open plan indoor learning environment is a spacious and fully interactive space; purposefully crafted by expert staff, keeping your little ones engaged whilst they learn through play.
Our extensive Early Years outdoor area offers our youngest pupils access to lots of activities from the mud kitchen, to the mini allotment and bike track.
All our pupils are truly cherished and nurtured, ready to leave in Year 6 fully prepared for the next phase of their education.

Admissions
Applications open from 1st November 2024 and close on 15th January 2025. The school will contact all successful applicants directly after the 16th April (National Offer Day) with further information regarding admissions.
In line with our School Admissions Policy, you will also need to complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) which you can find below, this should be returned to the school by 15th January 2025.

Admissions Policy 2024/25-For In-Year Applications
To apply for a school place mid-year or to apply to transfer your child to our school, you must complete the following:
- Contact the School Admissions Team and request an application form. You can contact the Wakefield Admissions Team at admissions@wakefield.gov.uk or 01924 306052. You will be asked to provide your child’s name, date of birth, your current address and details of your child’s current, or previous, school. Further information about completing the application form is available at Changing schools or new to Wakefield page on the Wakefield Council website to apply for a place in our school.
- Complete the Supplementary Information Form. Complete the form and return it directly to school.
